Hi everyone!

My name is Al-Rahim, and I am one of eight wonderful Senior Admissions Interns!

One activity that has been on my bucket list since my first-year at Whitman was to be a DJ for our college radio station, 90.5 FM KWCW!  I am happy to tell you that it finally made it happen! This past Thursday, my first-year roommate, Ethan, and I journeyed to the studio at 10:00 PM for our radio show debut, “Old School Jamz”. The two of us had been taking about this for quite some time, wondering when we would both find the time to make this happen. Senior year came faster than either of us could have imagined and naturally, we realized that we could not put it off any longer!

This past Thursday night was the highlight of my week! Having had no previous DJ experience, our show was one of the most exciting experiences I have had at Whitman this semester! We played tunes from “back in the day” when Ethan and I were in grade school. We featured artists such as Nelly, Ashanti, Beyoncé, J. Lo, Ludacris, Ja Rule              and many more – you know, the artists that made hip hop “supa fly” back then.

Even though I did not know what I was doing half the time (which was evident when I played a song twice), DJing for KWCW was the most fun I had all week! It was great to catch up with my roommate from my first-year and reminisce on grade school memories as we played hip hop songs from the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Feel free to tune in on Thursday nights at 10 PM! You can even stream the show into your iTunes – download the link here:!
